Weight Action Programme (WAP) by Queen Mary University of London

Weight Action Programme is a free 12-week in-person or online (via Zoom) programme run by specialists from the Health and Lifestyle Research Unit, Queen Mary University of London.

This service is for adults who work/live/study in Tower Hamlets or registered with a local GP. You must have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more or have a BMI of 27.5 if you are South Asian.

The programme provides a good chance of finding at least some routines that can be adopted long-term by giving participants a series of tasks throughout the course. Participants will work on their tasks with ‘buddies’ and report to the group on both successes and failures. Also, there is a gradually increasing exercise target, tailored to your needs and capacity.

Self-refer: telephone 020 7882 8230 or email wap@qmul.ac.uk. GP referral: send the completed ‘Weight Action Programme Referral form’ on EMIS to BHNT.smokersclinic@nhs.net.
