The Communities Keeping Well Programme [North West] is working in partnership with two communities to support them to live healthier lives. Residents have established their health and wellbeing priorities and will be running their own projects to support these priorities.
We are working in two locations
- Cambridge Heath
- Collingwood
Cambridge Heath
We engaged with over 70 residents through street conversations, door knocking to identify what would make their community a healthier place to live and what they are doing to improve their health and wellbeing. We visited a range of locations including schools, GP practices, and community organisations/groups.
We held community events such as a World Café and a Working Together workshop, engaging with a further 14 residents and 6 local stakeholders.
Our local stakeholders are:
- Employment Skills, I.T Digital training & free courses
- Mental health/ wellbeing, social connection, and loneliness
- ESOL Walking groups
- Community Safety & Police Patrol
- Healthy affordable food
- Community Activities in open spaces
- G.P appointments in person &phone
- Make use of existing hubs & centres
- Gardening Activities
- Clean up of parks & supporting residents to maintain
- Sewing classes

Community Voting Day
This is a new way of funding projects in the Cambridge Heath area to address community priorities. At the Community Voting Day, residents will share their project ideas with local people to get their support. Local people will then vote on the project ideas that they like best.
Cambridge Heath residents will present their project ideas in a Dragon’s Den style event called a Community Voting Day on Saturday 11th January 2025.
Collingwood
We engaged residents through street conversations and door knocking to identify what would make their community a healthier place to live and what they are currently doing for their physical and mental wellbeing.
We held community events such as a World Café with hot food and a Working Together Workshop engaging with combined 63 residents and 9 local stakeholders.
Our local stakeholders are:
- Healthy Cooking & growing project
- Women’s wellbeing groups with trips
- Arts& Crafts like sewing & crotchet
- ESOL at Collingwood
- Walking groups
- Computer classes
- Group leaders taking people to activities e.g. swimming
- Employment skills & opportunities for adults
- A Level & GCSE Support
