About this event

Improving local health and care services by learning how to work together better

As people of Tower Hamlets, you know what is needed to improve health and wellbeing in the borough. The Council, the NHS and Community organisations in Tower Hamlets can do better at listening and working with people to make sure health and care services better address people’s needs. You can help shape this so local services and opportunities are more in line with what people want.

Join us for an event series to help work out ideas and plans for how we can work together better - click here to book your FREE place.

We plan to hold three events, which link together:

Event 1

Tuesday 25 April 2023 | 9.30am to 12.30pm. Registration from 9am

Professional Development Centre, 229 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 6AB

At the first event, we will talk together about how it can be difficult to get involved or make changes in services. Some examples might be issues with how we share information, how welcome people feel, and how much power there is to change things. We will also talk about some good examples from local people and organisations, that we could do more of.

Event 2

Tuesday 23 May 2023 | 9.30am to 12.30pm. Registration from 9am

Professional Development Centre, 229 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 6AB

The second event will look at the way we can work better together. We will look at the ways we involve people throughout the steps of creating a new service or changing an existing service. This can include how we decide to use money to create or develop a service, or how people can be involved in the planning, action, and review from the start of a new service or service change.

We will then pull together what we learnt in the first 2 meetings. It will explain what we understand to be the barriers to working together and how we can do this better. Then we hold the third event:

Event 3

Tuesday 11th July 2023 | 9.30am to 12.30pm. Registration from 9am

Professional Development Centre, 229 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 6AB

Here we want to hold a wider public discussion on ideas we think will help all of us to work together better. This is to find out if people think we have the right ideas to improve the way we work together to improve services.

Who is this event for?

We aim to have 50 people at the first two meetings. We want a good mix of people who fund and deliver services alongside people who live in the borough with an interest in this issue. The final event we will invite more people so they can review our work and ideas.

To ensure we have a good mix, we have two registration processes:

·         People who live in Tower Hamlets or work/volunteer with a voluntary or community organisation: Click on this link to register if you live in Tower Hamlets or represent a voluntary and community group. We are offering people who attend a £20 per hour a love2shop voucher and for organisations, a £40 per hour payment for attending. To be eligible for this, you will be required to complete an event evaluation.

·         People working in statutory agencies like the Council and the NHS

Who are organising these events?

This work is being led by the Towers Hamlets Together partnership, where health, care and community organisations join up and seek to improve health and care services in the borough. To find out more about who they are and their work follow this link.

“Please note this event is aimed at Voluntary Organisations based or delivering work in the borough of Tower Hamlets, we have limited places so we will give priority to these groups.”
