Bethnal Green fire station will be celebrating its 50th birthday with an open day on Saturday 3 August.

Meet fire fighters, tour the station, and learn more about life in the brigade. There will be an engine on display, and if you behave yourself you may even be allowed to get into it.

Former members of the crew will be there to share their memories of the station and the area. Bethnal Green fire station used to be based at what is now the London Buddhist Centre.

The current station was built in the late ’60s in a distinct Bauhaus style. The open day will be a chance to see what goes on behind those big red doors.
